Many of these will see your many years of experience as a great asset so you have no need to be nervous about being too old.

Do you love reading, or want to start reading regularly? A book club can be a great way to get motivated to dive into some books. This can be a great way to keep in touch with your old colleagues and even to meet new people. Many retirement homes and communities have book clubs already set up as a way for you to get to know your fellow residents. Reading can be a very rewarding hobby in its own right and talking it through with a group can take it to the next level.

3. Walking

When entering retirement it can be very easy to remain stationary for long periods of time. This is not good for the mind or the body. You should make sure that you are keeping active, even just regular walks can do wonders for you. By not letting your muscles and joints get atrophied you will be able to keep mobile for much longer into your retirement. The sooner you start the better. This can be a great time to organize your thoughts and stay fit at the same time.

This is so much more than a hobby, this is a gift that you can pass onto your children. You will have knowledge of previous generations that your children do not. By starting a genealogy project you will be making sure that this valuable knowledge is not lost over time. This can also be a great way to spend time with your family as they can get involved with the project as well.

Digital cameras have become very easy to use and the pictures that they are able to take are extraordinary. This can be a great way to make your walks around the retirement community much more enjoyable. It also gives you something to talk to your family about when they come to visit.

6. Gardening

Gardening can be a very rewarding hobby as it allows you to get out of your room and outside in the fresh air. You can also see the plants, fruits, or vegetable grow as well. You will also be able to literally enjoy the fruits of your labour.
